A Unique study programme for health and sports physiotherapy

The aim of the programme is to prepare graduates for the profession of a physiotherapist with a unique health and sports focus, for work as university-educated professionals involved in the development of physiotherapy and the promotion of the integration of theory and practice – individuals possessing the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for lifelong learning in their specialty and for further academic education.

The bachelor's programme of Physiotherapy is a full-time study programme of a standard length of 4 years taught in the English language. During the first two years, students will acquire the theoretical foundation of Physiotherapy. From the summer semester of the second year, students will participate in bi-annual clinical practice in the university hospital to gain hands-on experience and practical skills in Physiotherapy, treating and communicating with actual patients and healthcare team. For that reason, students attend eight semesters of the Czech language during their studies to achieve language proficiency for communication with patients.

After completing all study obligations, and successfully passing the Final state exam and defending the bachelor thesis, graduates are awarded the Bachelor’s degree (Bc.) of Physiotherapy.

Why choose physiotherapy at our school?

The graduates are highly qualified to work in health care settings as well as in sports. Our university provides professionals with superb theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The focus is not only on preparing future physiotherapists for their future profession but also those professionals who will further develop the field of physiotherapy, and work in academic settings as well as in research.

Important notice: remember that the work of a PT is somewhat physically demanding. During the study of physiotherapy, students work in pairs to practice learned techniques and procedures on each other and eventually on patients. This work requires physical contact (touching) between students or on a patient with exposed body parts, i.e., legs, lower back, arms, etc. Students start their clinical practice in the spring semester of their second year, when they will already be interacting with real patients, thus the emphasis on the Czech language communication skills.
