The third school of Czech School in Physiotherapy and Occupation Therapy offered a week full of education, discussions, joint projects and excursions. Twenty-seven students and lecturers participated in the international event, the program of which was prepared by the Institute of Clinical Rehabilitation of the FZV UP. In addition to the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Belgium, Croatia and Finland were also represented in the program.
The contents of the Blended Intensive Program (BIP) were workshops focused on voice therapy and issues of the temporomandibular joint, the use of yoga techniques and mindfulness in rehabilitation, or the use of laboratory technologies both in the field of therapy and research. "As part of strengthening skills in the field of teamwork, students also worked on an interdisciplinary project, the output of which was its presentation at the end of school," explained Petra Gaul Aláčová on behalf of the organizers. For one day, the program moved from the Faculty of Health Sciences to the Rehabilitation Center in Klimkovice. "The participants were accompanied by the head of rehabilitation and balneotherapy, Romana Holáňová. During the excursion, they had the opportunity to practically try out some devices in the framework of robotic rehabilitation or approaches at the occupational therapy workplace," described Petra Gaul Aláčová.
Again, there was also a connection with the concurrently running Midwifery School. "Thanks to this, students were able to try out the possibilities of interdisciplinary cooperation with women during pregnancy, but also after childbirth and in the postpartum period. Numerous questions and rich discussions showed great interest in the topics discussed," pointed out Petra Gaul Aláčová, adding that this year's school also offered a free-time program in the form of a tour of historic Olomouc and a pub quiz in which participants from both international schools competed. "Student feedback on this year's school of physiotherapy and occupational therapy was very positive, not only with regard to the topics discussed, but also to international contacts and cooperation across disciplines," Petra Gaul Aláčová assessed.
The event was organized by the Institute of Clinical Rehabilitation of the FZV UP in cooperation with the Olomouc Faculty Hospital as part of the Erasmus+ BIP program. "Colleagues from the Faculty of Health Sciences Irena Jedličková, Lucie Sehnálková and Markéta Nosková greatly helped with the preparations and the smooth running of the packed program. We thank them very much for that," summed up Petra Gaul Aláčová.
